The terms born after the official agreement endorsed by 3 countries; Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, and Malaysia On January 12, 2007, at a meeting on the margins of the 12th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines. The area of Heart of Borneo covers more than 6 million acres (2.5 million hectares). The forest landscape is a classic example of Southeast Asian rainforest and one of the last remaining frontier forests on the entire island of Borneo. Linking 11 (eleven) protected areas and forest reserves, the Heart of Borneo is home to tremendous biodiversity, including strongholds for critically endangered species such as the Asian elephant, Sumatran rhinoceros, orangutan, and proboscis monkey. The Heart of Borneo lies within both terrestrial and freshwater Global 200 eco-regions prioritized for biodiversity of global significance. The trip into the heart of borneo will take us into the most significant conservation area: Danau Sentarum National Park and Betung Kerihun National Park. Danau Sentarum National Park Danau Sentarum National Park has been declared an International Wetland Site under the Ramsar Convention in 1992. It is located in in part of the Kapuas River Basin, about 700 km from the estuary that flows into the South China Sea. It represents lake wetland, freshwater swamp forest, and tropical rain forest ecosystems. Surrounded by hills and highland, Lake Sentarum forms an important water catchment area, and at the same time regulates the water flow through the Kapuas watershed. All the areas downstream are therefore highly dependent on the fluctuating water level of the lake. The local people around Danau Sentarum National Park belong to the Dayak tribes like the Iban, Sebaruk, Sontas, Punan and they still live in a very traditional way. The characteristic longhouses (betang) vary in size according to the number of people occupying them. This could be between five and 30 families. A typical longhouse occupied by fifteen to thirty families would have an average length of 186 metres and a width of 6 metres. The local way of life is fascinating for tourists; the atmosphere of the betang is harmonious, simple, and friendly, and visitors will usually be treated to a traditional Dayak dance. The National Park of Betung Kerihun The Betung Kerihun Nature Reserve was established by the Ministry of Forestry on 11 February 1992 through a Ministrial Decree. It is the largest conservation area in the province of West Kalimantan and covers a total area of 800,000ha. The reserve consists of several types of ecosystems, including lowland forests, wet hill forests, montane forests, and moss forests. The elevation of the area ranges between 300-1.960m above sea level. The diversity of fauna in the area is very high, including a relatively healthy population of orang-utan, honey bear, white-fronted monkey, and gibbons. I watch this film when I was very young in elementary school, with my lovely father. But this film inspires and influences my whole life, about human being limit and spirit, about undying optimism !!!. Only spirit (and pray) make a human able to defend against tremendously extreme situation, change the destiny.
As my MP main Tags, Endless Love Avenure to SAHARA, life should be an Endless Love, love to the Supreme Creator love others love to the environ love to life itself, eventhough facing a deep misery, intense suffering and great offering. Life sometimes bring us to the Sahara, with unpredicted situation borderless possibility (see : English Patient).
This film also posses a great score for ethnic balancing, directed by Jerry Goldsmith, published on 1973, Pappilon. Papillon was perhaps the finest moment in Steve Mcqueen’s more than modest career. The film here is actually pretty good, though it's overly long and the last segment where Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman reunite after five years in solitary confinement (it's a prison escape film) is pretty silly. It's also one of the most strangely spotted films I've ever seen—almost all of the score is confined to one sub-plot three fourths of the way through the film. The music does show up in other areas of the film, occasionally, and Goldsmith is required to represent three different ethnic groups during the course: French for the characters, South American for part of the setting, and Columbian for some native extras.
Well, the natives get little more than one of those throw away references, which is fine because they're only in a tiny section of the film. But, listen to the French and Hispanic music—it's often the same theme just in different orchestral settings. And as a matter of fact, that theme (the main theme) isn't always used in these veins, anyway; it's just as often played without any ethnic specifications. I think that one of Goldsmith's best traits as a composer is the way he doesn't overload himself with themes—he just writes flexible ones and uses them however he needs them.
Henri Charriere's autobiographical account of his escape from Devil's Island is amazing material for McQueen and Hoffman to work with. They are rightly the focus of the poster as their single minded determination to escape their chains is an example to us all. These are wonderful acting performances.
Everyone should learn about.
Others : Genre : Drama, Adventure Year : 1973 Film Star : Steve McQueen as Pappilon ( Henri Charriere), Dustin Hoffman as Louis Dega, Victor Jory, Bill Murray.
Synopysis :
The story based on the life of Henrie Charriere, called “papillon”, the butterfly. Charriere was a small time criminal, who was falsely accused of murder, and thrown in to prison in French Guyana. For about a century, from the time of Napoleon’s exile to the middle of the 20th century, French Guyana served as a penal colony with one of the harshest prison systems the modern world has known.
Prisoners were often sent there after flawed trials, and once there they could never escape (British India had it’s own replica of the French Guyana system, in Kala paani). There, they had to undergo hard labor, in hot, malaria infected swamps, with little food and water, and the barest minimum for survival. The first attempt at escaping would result in 2 years of solitary confinement, where absolute silence was enforced, in a closed (no barred doors) 6 foot by 4 room, with one meal a day. Prisoners could be tortured here, and even be thrown in to complete darkness for months.
A second attempt would result in five years in solitary. A third (if obviously unsuccessful) would lead to the guillotine. And there were a few places to escape to. Surrounded by swamps, with few habitations around, and armed guards (manhunters), with orders to remain ruthless.
Yet, Papillon enters prison with one idea in mind, freedom. There he meets and befriends Louis Dega (the inimitable Dustin Hoffman), a myopic, fragile master-forger, sentenced to exile and imprisonment. Dega represents more common aspirations. Willingness to compromise. To try to bribe one’s way to lesser hardships. To use all legal means possible to secure release. And an innate decency towards all other men.
But with Papillon, without freedom there is no life. So, he escapes, is caught, and is thrown in to solitary. When Dega helps him (by bribing a warden to bring him food), and Papillon is caught, he refuses to reveal his benefactor’s name. More punishment, and brutal torture. He barely survives, only to escape again. To be caught again, and subjected to more breaking. And then escape again, to almost make it to freedom.
Finally, an old man, he’s sent to Devil’s island, a rocky, isolated island where convicts eke out a subsistence survival. Here he meets his old friend Dega again, and as they hobble across the island, arthritic, with rotten teeth and weak limbs, he plots his final escape from the island. Defiant, unbroken, and believing in freedom to the last
Papillon’s glass always remained half full.

This excellent book tell and guide us all about River Guiding & Trip Leading. Our best friend Faisal Zainal (javarhino73@yahoo.com ), now stay at Seatlle, WA USA, donated this book to whitewater society in Indonesia through FAJI (Federasi Arung Jeram Indonesia, www.faji.org).
This book teaches us creating a memorable river trip, towards a successful rafting business and self-achievement as well. River Journey with caring, well-trained guides is much more than just a physical movement from put-in (start point) to take-out (finish point), its is a journey from fear to confidence to joy; from being a stranger to being known and feeling bonded with one's boat mates; from feeling perhaps scattered and self-critical inside feeling more self -accepting, more whole, more fully alive-and, as an extra plus, it is a journey from feeling cut from the natural world to feeling connected with and truly amazed and delighted by the magic of our planet. In short, a well-guided river trip is a voyage into deep fun.
All of you want to improve guiding level or river trip leading, or develop rafting business, tremendously need this Book. If you need a copy of this rare book, prepare Rp. 150,000 (for cost of Xerox and mailing cost) and you may contact me through email : bdyakin@airputih.or.id or call/sms to 0818 79 0063.
